BAKER Bingham, Sept. 30 1847. A Present from my Mother Footnotes: The above is the only page photographed by seller. Seller stated: I thought that this Bible contained no family history (on American Bible Society Bibles a family history page is usually bound in between the Old and New Testaments.) However, I just found located the family history information penciled on the very last page of the New Testament.It begins with Edwin & Hellen which is crossed out and rewritten Helin, June 28th, 1865. There follows the births of their children: Edith M. Baker, born July 13, 1866; Nellie M, born June 25th, 1868; Gerry (?) Sherwin, born June 3rd, ‘73. Beneath it reads Children of E.S. & H.M. Baker. Bingham, Maine is a tiny community about 50 miles up the Kennebec River from Augusta, Maine. The old free meeting hall still stands though it is no longer used as a church. These free halls were used by circuit riding preachers in the early 19th century. Today, even though the Kennebec is dammed above Bingham, this is a center for white water sports. In the 1840’s Bingham was primarily a logging community supplying lumber for the shipbuilding on the lower reaches of the Kennebec. Jane A. BURNS was born in the city of Philadelphia, Pa, on the 8th day of December A.D. 1808. MARRIAGES Thomas T. BEATTIE and Jane BURNS were married in Cincinnati, Ohio, on the 10th day of August A.D. 1830. By the Rev. Dr. ARDELOTT ??.
James A. BEATTIE and Pamela DODGE were married in Louisville, Kentucky on the 8th day of November A.D. 1854 by the Rev. C. B. PARSONS.

century Kentucky owned Bible containing Beattie family records.
According to a pasted in newspaper account, William C. was a furniture
dealer in Louisville. The Dodges lost two of their sons to drowning.

In addition to both the Old and New Testaments it also has an 80 page Complete Index and Concise Dictionary of the Holy Bible. Circa. 1870 Handwritten lists of Births, Deaths, and Marriages are included in the pages. Some of these are: Marriages - Mr. Daniel Knox married Miss Sarah Forsythe -1866, Mr. Wm. J. Carson to Miss Sarah Knox - 1873. Births - Elijah Crossen March 7, 1876, Ellen Crossen July 26, 1877. Deaths - Mr. Daniel Knox - July 27, 1870, Mrs, Jane Hebrew - March 7, 1873.
