WILSON of Verona, aged 43 years, 3 months and 9 days. Funeral private from his late home in Verona tomorrow (Sunday, October 27, 1918.) Written below it in script Burr C. WILSON Born July 15th 1869. J. W. DAVIS Dies; Served Area Churches. Verona - The Rev. Judson W. DAVIS, a retired Methodist minister and a member of the church's Northern New York Conference, died Aug. 6, 1951 in Oneida City Hospital, after a brief illness. Dr. DAVIS was born in Paines Hollow, Herkimer County, Dec. 16, 1865, a son of Josiah Porter and Julia Ann Goodsell DAVIS. After studying at Cazenovia Seminary and Syracuse University, he was ordained, beginning his ministry at South New Berlin in 1894. The same year in Verona, he married Lois SMITH, the daughter of Orrin B. SMITH and Mary Elizabeth Maxson SMITH. Mr. DAVIS also served Methodist churches in Smyrna, Chenango Forks, Edmeston, Tabert, Westmoreland, Lowell and Verona. Recently, he had supplied the pulpit of the Durhamville Baptist Church for two years where many new members were added. For many years he was a member and president of the Verona High School Board of Education and was active in all community affairs. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Leroy Smith DAVIS, New York City and Merle Judson DAVIS, Verona; two grandchildren, David Wellman DAVIS and Virginia Lois DAVIS; two brothers, Edwin New Hartford; and John D. DAVIS, living in California. The body will be at the Orla F. Whitford Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., Oneida, Tuesday afternoon and evening. The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from the Verona Methodist Church with the Rev. William E. LORD officiating. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery. NEWSPAPER CLIPPING OBITUARY Died Sept 9 1959 1:30 A.M. Clinton E. DAVIS New Hartford - Clinton E. DAVIS, 58, of Davis Rd., died yesterday in his home after a long illness. He was born in New Hartford Oct. 6. 1900, son of Edwin C. DAVIS and the late Ida Wilson DAVIS, and was educated in New Hartford schools. He was also graduated from the Utica School of Commerce. Mr. DAVIS was associated with his father and brother in the dairy business until it was sold in 1957. Since then, he has been employed by the Mohawk Valley Technical Institute as a maintenance man. He was married to Marguerita RHOADES Sept. 26, 1923, in the New Hartford Methodist Church, of which he was a member. He was also a member of Amicable Lodge 664, F&AM, and the Republican Club of this village. Besides his wife and father, he leaves a son, Curtis E. DAVIS, Barneveld; a brother Ford L. DAVIS, New Hartford and four grandchildren and a niece. The funeral will be held at 11 Saturday from his home with the Rev. James N. PAULEY, pastor of the New Hartford Methodist Church officiating.
