RUTT Obituary in Old Bible *RUTT Family Name Search

Mr. Samuel RUTT

On Friday morning death visited our town and took from our midst one of our oldest and most esteemed citizens Mr. Samuel RUTT. He was respected by all, a christian man, who left a host of relatives and friends. He was permitted by his Master to attain the ripe old age of 84 years, before he was gathered into the fold. He was well known in this place for many miles around for his amiable disposition and upright life, and his death has cast a gloom over this community. Thus, so to speak, our old landmarks pass away, and our oldest citizens, one by one taken up higher.

The funeral took place at 10 o'clock on Monday morning, and was very largely attended by relatives and friends from this town and neighborhood, and from abroad. The funeral services were held at the late residence of the deceased and the (rest is cut off in this photo.)

Footnote: Seller states he was buried in West Donegal Township. No date on this obituary but Bible published in 1831.
