This project is still in progress but their goal is to have all "Tan Books" online.  The "Tan Books" are books compiled in the early 1900s of the all the town, clerk and court records in Massachusetts as well as many private records such as Bibles and old gravestones.   Covering the time period from about 1600to 1849, these are a great help to anyone researching their genealogy and family history in the early years of Massachusetts.  The records are searchable by town and surname.

Located at the Massachusetts Archives.  Provides a searchable index of all vital record events which occurred in Massachusetts between 1841 and 1910.  Containing births, marriages and deaths, the database is searchable by first name, last name, year and place. You may request copies of the records found in this index.
