MOWERY ARTIFACTS FOUND IN BIBLE: NEWSPAPER CLIPPING
UPPER CLASSES PRINCIPAL IS M. R. YARRISON The principal of the South Williamsport Junior-Senior High School, M. R. YARRISON, was born in Loganton. he began his teaching career in 1913. After teaching two years in the rural schools of Clinton county, he completed his work at Lock Haven State Teachers College. (Photo of M. R. YARRISON here in clipping.) During the time he attended college he participated in football two years and baseball for one year. The following year he was elected supervising principal of the Ramey borough Schools in Clearfield County. IN JUNE, 1918 he entered service in World War I was assigned to Officers' training corps and received his commission in November, 1918. After being discharged in January, 1919, he completed the term as principal of the Mountain Avenue School, South Williamsport. The following year he taught science in the Hughesville High School. In 1920 he was elected principal of the South Williamsport High School. He served as principal and science teacher until September, 1930, when he became principal of the present junior-senior high school. After returning from military service, he continued to take extension work at the University of Pennsylvania and Bucknell University, also Summer work at The Pennsylvania State College. He is a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the National Education Association and the Secondary Principals' Association. His wife was formerly Helen C. STRYKER of Williamsport. OBITUARY Mrs. Rena Y. ROCKEY Mrs. Rena YARRISON ROCKEY, 57, of Laureldale, daughter of Mrs. Ella M. YARRISON, of this city, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 1956. She had been in ill health for the past few months. Born at Longanton RD, she was the daughter of John L. and Ella M. YARRISON. She was a member of Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church, Reading. Surviving, besides her mother, are three sons, Ross, of Laureldale, Dean, of Jersey Shore, and George of Loganton RD; one daughter, Miss Esther ROCKEY, of Laureldale; four brothers, Guy and James YARRISON, of this city, Melvin YARRISON, South Williamsport and Orvis YARRISON, Lafayette, Ind. and one sister, Mrs. Esther RHINE of this city. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Morris' Loganton. The Rev. Richard SWARTZ, pastor of the Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church, Reading, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Loganton. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.

CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. Ross MOWERY, of Loganton, Wedded Half Century. Other News Items Loganton, July 3 -- The fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ross MOWERY was fittingly observed in their home in this place last Thursday. Rev. H. P. MANEVAL was present and had charge of the ceremonies after which a sumptuous dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs. MOWEREY received a neat sum in gold and silver. All greatly enjoyed the day and wished Mr. and Mrs. MOWERY many more years of happiness. The following friends and relatives were present: Rev. H. P. MANEVAL and wife Mr. and Mrs. Harry WENSEL, C. C.
