The Oregon State Police, Sex Offender Registration Unit, tracks registration of persons convicted of sex crimes who reside, work or attend school within the state of Oregon. The Unit is the state repository for information within the state, encompassing adult and juvenile offenders. As of May 2007 the Unit maintained files on 13,873 individuals who are required to register in Oregon. This does not include those persons who have moved from Oregon to other states, nor does it include those individuals who are currently incarcerated in correctional facilities (i.e., state and federal prisons, youth correctional institutions, detention centers and some medical treatment facilities).

Monmouth police seek missing sex offender

The Monmouth Police Department is asking for the public's help finding a convicted sex offender who last contacted his probation officer in early January.

On Jan. 5, John J. Biesen, 40, of Monmouth called his probation officer to say he had run into car trouble while driving home from the Gold Beach home of a family member and asked to reschedule an appointment, said Sgt. Kim Dorn, a department spokeswoman.

On Jan. 6, Biesen sent his family a text message. But family members didn't call authorities to report Biesen missing until Jan. 25.

Authorities think he might be driving a gold, two-door 1968 Ford with a black vinyl top.

According to court records, Biesen pleaded guilty in Polk County Circuit Court to first-degree sex abuse in 2009.

Anyone with information about Biesen is asked to call Monmouth police at 503-838-1109.
